Quenneville: Keith Illness Likely Not Mumps
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Defenseman Duncan Keith wasn't present for the Blackhawks' 5-3 win over the division rival Minnesota Wild on Tuesday, but it's "unlikely" that it was due to the mumps, Chicago coach Joel Quenneville said after the game.
Keith was ruled out for Tuesday's game during morning skate because of a sudden illness, leading to concerns over whether he had acquired the mumps. Quenneville believes that Keith will be back on the ice with the Blackhawks the next time they practice.
Fourteen NHL players are battling the mumps as the rare viral disease has spread through the league. The most notable player dealing with the mumps is Pittsburgh's Sidney Crosby.
However, Keith appears to be cleared of the illness, as Quenneville believes. Chicago returns to action on Saturday when it's on the road to face Columbus.
