Quenneville: Kane's Maturity 'A Work In Progress'
(WSCR) Few doubt Patrick Kane's ability on the ice. It's the off-the-ice exploits that have Blackhawks fans worried.
Fair or not, the Blackhawks' winger has been labeled as "immature" and in a radio interview with The McNeil and Spiegel Show Friday, Blackhawks head coach Joel Quenneville addressed his star player's maturity level:
"I think Kaner has gotten more mature each and every year. He's gotten stronger. I think he looks after himself in a better way each and every year. And I think he's progressing as a young kid ... Each and every year I can see some growth as a person and as a player."

But Quenneville thinks Kane's maturity can still improve.
"It's progressing," he said. "I think that's going to be a work in progress. But I think as we go along here we want to make sure you prioritize your objectives in life and make sure your focus is being the best you can on a game-to-game basis. So that's what we try to re-instill as a coaching staff and as an organization."
Kane is currently recovering from off-season wrist surgery and while the winger said earlier this week that he might not be ready in time for training camp, Quenneville expects him to be healed in time.
"Kaner's fine. He's right on schedule," Quenneville said. "We expect him to be in training camp. He's progressing on our schedule. We expect him to be ready to play when we start."
