Quade Takes Bat Out Of Big Z's Hands
Carlos Zambrano isn't your typical pitcher, of course there's the whole anger management thing, but he's also a very effective player in the batters box.
When Zambrano steps to the plate he swings, and he swings hard. In 660 career plate appearances, Zambrano has a .236 batting average, 21 home runs and 64 RBI.
Recently he's been taking so much batting practice that on Friday morning, according to Dave van Dyck of the Chicago Tribune, Zambrano had his left wrist taped. As a result, manager Mike Quade is going to give Big Z a bit of a break from hitting, and that included DHing for him in the Cubs' Friday game.
"He hit so much, let's take a break," Quade said. "All I want the guy to do is pitch. But if I can error on the side of caution, that's what I do."
