Quade Still Confident In His Closer
CHICAGO (CBS) Trailing 1-0 in the bottom of the eighth inning, the Chicago Cubs put together a three-run rally to take the lead, and what most would assume would be the game as well. But the normally reliable Carlos Marmol gave up six runs in the following inning and the Cubs lost 7-3.
"You have those days," manager Mike Quade said. "And no one feels worse than 'Marm.'"
The normally reliable Marmol is having a solid season, he has a 3.47 ERA, and after Tuesday night has converted 10 of his 13 save opportunities. So the next time the Cubs need someone to close out a game, Quade will once again bring Marmol out of the bullpen.
"He'll be back out there [Wednesday] to save a game for us, given the same opportunity," Quade said. "It's just too bad he had a rough night."
