Proviso West H.S. Lockdown Lifted After Bullet Found In Cafeteria, Two In Custody
(CBS) -- Proviso West High School in suburban Hillside was on a precautionary lockdown and two teens are in police custody, according to Hillside Police.
The school initiated the lockdown at 2:15 p.m. Wednesday after a single bullet found on the ground inside the high school's cafeteria, according to the communications director for Proviso Township High Schools District 209. The bullet was not fired from a gun.
Hillside Police say they have taken two teens into. The lockdown was lifted and students were allowed to leave shortly before 4 p.m.
A large police presence was on the scene sifting through dumpsters outside the school at 4701 Harrison Street. Police do not believe there was a threat to students or staff but were taking measures to ensure their safety.
