Prentice Hospital Moves Closer To Demolition
CHICAGO (CBS) -- The historic former Prentice Women's Hospital will soon be history.
The Chicago Commission on Landmarks voted Thursday against giving final landmark status to the iconic building, located in Streeterville.
Northwestern says it will now move forward with plans to build a state-of-the-art biomedical research facility on the site. Mayor Emanuel has backed the plan, while preservationists had been fighting to save the Bertrand Goldberg-designed building for reuse.
