Pregnant Woman, Teenage Boy Shot And Wounded In North Lawndale

CHICAGO (CBS) -- A pregnant woman and a teenage boy were wounded overnight when a gunman opened fire on them in the North Lawndale neighborhood.
The pregnant 19-year-old woman and the 16-year-old boy were sitting in front of a house in the 1600 block of South Hamlin Avenue at 11:07 p.m. Wednesday, when someone inside a passing white van opened fire, police said.

The woman was wounded in her left breast and was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in guarded condition because of her pregnancy. Her wound was not life-threatening, and her unborn baby was not hurt, police said.
The woman's condition was reported as stable Thursday morning, police said.
The boy was taken to Stroger Hospital of Cook County in stable condition, police said. This was the second time he had been shot in just the past month.
As of early Thursday, Area Central detectives were questioning a person of interest, police said.
