Pregnant Woman Fatally Shot In South Side Home
CHICAGO (STMW) -- A 28-year-old woman who was pregnant was fatally shot in her South Side Woodlawn neighborhood home, which was ransacked, Saturday morning.
Police were called to the apartment in the 6400 block of South Maryland Avenue about 8 a.m. Saturday and found the front door had been kicked in, police News Affairs Officer Ronald Gaines said.
An autopsy Sunday found that Lekiah White had been shot in the head and her death was ruled a homicide, the Cook County Medical Examiner's office said.
Police said the home had been ransacked, as well.
White was pregnant and lived at the same address where she was found, according to the medical examiner's office. She was pronounced dead at the scene at 9:05 a.m. Saturday.
Area Central detectives are investigating.
