Pouring Rain Gone For Now, But Storms Coming Wednesday
CHICAGO (CBS) -- If you're an early-shifter, you might have gotten drenched by pouring rain on the way to work Tuesday.
You won't have that problem again for the rest of the day. But you'd be well advised to bring your umbrella with you on Wednesday.
CBS 2 Meteorologist Megan Glaros says the storms that drenched much of the Chicago area during the 4 and 5 a.m. hours Tuesday have now made their way east to Detroit and Toronto.
As of 11:20 a.m., sun mixed with clouds prevailed across the Chicago area. The temperature was 82 at O'Hare International Airport, 83 at Midway Airport, 80 in Valparaiso, Ind., and a sweaty 85 in DeKalb.
For the remainder of the day, conditions will be muggy and humid, with cloud cover expected to remain from the city of Chicago south, but sunshine on the North Shore.
But the pouring rain will be back. A cold front to the west will take away the warm, muggy air, and bring a chance for severe thunderstorms with hail and damaging winds Wednesday afternoon.
After an overnight low of 68, the high Wednesday climbs to 88 before storms come rip-roaring through.
Cooler, drier air will supplant the hot, humid air after the Wednesday storms, with the high climbing just to 78 Thursday. The high for Friday is 75 and Saturday 72 with a chance of rain both days.
For Sunday, the high is 71, and for Monday 73.
