Pond Searches Turn Up Nothing In Disappearance Of Mom And 2 Kids
VOLO, Ill. (CBS) – Fire department divers checked two ponds Friday as police continued searching for a far north suburban mother and her two young children, who were last seen over the weekend.
Volo resident Aneta M. Marsek, 33, was reported missing, along with her daughters, Chevelle, 2, and four-month-old Macenzie, the Lake County Sheriff's Department said earlier this week. They were last seen at the home of Marsek's parents in Wauconda on Saturday evening. Marsek's estranged husband, Dan, reported them missing.
Fox Lake Fire Protection District Battalion Chief Tom Preidis said the sheriff's office asked that divers check ponds near Marsek's Volo home, as precaution. They did the searches on Friday, and nothing was found, he told CBS 2.
"Both ponds are clear, so that's a good sign," Preidis said.
The Lake County Sheriff's Department reported no progress in the case Friday.
Aneta Marsek was driving a black Chevrolet Trailblazer, license plate CZAJA28.
"If anybody sees her or the girls, just let us know," friend Kristi Kunish said Friday evening from a JC Penny parking lot where volunteers fanned out to distribute flyers.
