Pompei: Big Moves Could Be Coming For The Bears
(WSCR) With NFL free agency less than a week away, teams are preparing to dish out mega-million dollar contracts that could potentially change their entire franchise.
Two of the most highly-sought free agents will be wide receiver Vincent Jackson and defensive end Mario Williams. The Bears can certainly use a big, physical No. 1 wide receiver, and a complement to Julius Peppers on the defensive line could pay great dividends.
"I think the Bears should be in the game for whoever they want to sign," Dan Pompei of the National Football Post and Chicago Tribune told The Mully and Hanley Show. "There's no reason why they shouldn't be. They can offer an attractive package to a Mario Williams or a Vincent Jackson."

Though most fans would advocate for the Bears to sign a wide receiver, Pompei thinks defensive end might be a better option.
"You can never, ever, ever go wrong with big guys and pass-rushers, especially given the importance of pass-rushers in the Lovie Smith defensive scheme," Pompei said. "If you don't have pass-rushers, you don't have anything.
"(The Bears have) a history of being kind of aggressive in free agency, if you go back under Jerry Angelo. They really have made some big moves -- another one could be coming now. The obstacle to signing either one of those guys is going to be the competition. It's going to be just ridiculous. You're going to severely overpay, whoever signs those players. You have to be prepared to do that."
