Political Newcomer Enters Race For Illinois' 14th
GURNEE, Ill. (AP) -- A 61-year-old political newcomer has entered the Democratic race for Illinois' 14th Congressional District.
Dennis Anderson of Gurnee announced this week that he'll seek his party's nomination in the March primary for the re-drawn district in northern Illinois.
He's worked as a medical research administrator including at Loyola University's cancer center. Another Democrat seeking the nomination is Frank McClatchey, an alderman in McHenry.
The newly-drawn 14th includes many of Chicago's far western suburbs and stretches to the state's northern border.
Republican Randy Hultgren currently represents the district and is planning on seeking re-election.
