CHICAGO (CBS) – Police are searching for a man who reportedly raped a woman after asking to borrow her cell phone on the eastern edge of the Englewood neighborhood over the weekend.

As CBS 2's Susanna Song reports, the 21-year-old victim said she was walking in the 6800 block of South Perry shortly before 9 p.m. when a man between the ages of 40 and 55 approached her and asked to use her phone.

The man took out a handgun and forced the victim into an alley, where he raped her.

The offender, who fled westbound on 69th Street, is described as an African American with a bald head with a scar on the left top of his head. He is unshaven with a partially gray beard.

He was wearing a white- and red-striped T-shirt, black pants and brown boots, police said.

Anyone with information is asked to call Wentworth Area police detectives, at (312) 747-8380.
