Police: Woman Killed In Edens Crash
Updated 5/24/11 8:41 p.m.
CHICAGO (STMW) - A woman is dead after the vehicle she was driving left the Edens Expressway and crashed into a tree Tuesday afternoon on the North Side, State Police said.
The woman was driving south on the Edens Expressway (I-94) when she veered off the road and struck a tree near West Peterson Avenue, Illinois State Police District Chicago Master Sgt. Anthony Ostrowski said.
April Pryuer, 35, of Indianapolis, Ind., was taken to Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge, where she was pronounced dead at 2:45 p.m., according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.
No other vehicles were involved and nobody else was injured, Ostrowski said. State Police are investigating if she left the road because of a medical condition or if she possibly fell asleep.
Because the vehicle was so far from the road, investigators did not have to close any lanes.
