Police Warn South Side Residents Of Armed Robberies
CHICAGO (STMW) - Police are looking for a group of males who robbed people at gunpoint last week in a series of incidents in the the Grand Boulevard and Washington Park neighborhoods.
The first robbery happened about 12:30 a.m. July 26 in the 4800 block of South Prairie Avenue, according to a community alert from Area Central detectives. The second happened at 10:50 p.m. that day in the 200 block of East 51st Street.
A similar robbery happened about 1:20 a.m. July 29 in the 5100 block of South Prairie Avenue, police said.
The descriptions of the suspects varies, but in one case they were described as two black males, 16 and 18 years, police said. Both had dreadlocks and were armed with semi-automatic handguns.
In another attack, the robbers were described as two black men between 18 and 21, police said. One man was armed with a chrome 9 mm handgun and the other a chrome .45-caliber semi-automatic handgun.
In the third robbery, a 28-year-old black man known as "De-Bo" robbed his victim with a chrome and black handgun, police said. He is described as a 5-foot-8 and 160 pounds.
