Police Warn Of Muggings In River North
CHICAGO (STMW) -- Police have issued an alert after a couple of late-night incidents in the River North area in which young men have punched people walking down the street, then robbed of money and cell phones.
The two incidents reported to police occurred in the 800 and 900 blocks of North Franklin Street, the alert said. They took place on June 29 about 1 a.m. and on July 6 about 1:20 a.m.
Two offenders, described as black men 20-25, 5-foot-7 to 5-foot-10 and 150-170 pounds, approach their victims as they were walk down the sidewalk or get out of their car, the alert said. They punch the victims, then demand their cell phone and money.
In one case the offenders fled in a silver-colored vehicle.
