Police Warn Of Business Hold-Ups In West Town, Logan Square
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Chicago Police are warning residents of armed robberies at West Town and Northwest Side Logan Square neighborhood businesses.
A man walked into a small grocery or liquor stores and announced a robbery before taking bottles of liquor and cash from the safe, according to a community alert from police. In one incident, the man fired several shots, but no one was injured.
One robbery happened at 3:56 p.m. Aug. 26 in the 2200 block of North Western, and another happened at 5 p.m. Sept. 13 in the 1900 block of North California, police said. The other two incidents happened at 8:35 p.m. Sept. 20 in the 2500 block of West North Ave., and at 9:30 p.m. Sept. 22 in the 3000 block of West Fullerton.
The suspect was described as a 20 to 30-year-old black man, standing 5-foot-6 to 5-foot-10 and weighing 150-175 pounds, police said. He wore a white or blue T-shirt, blue jeans, a black mask, and blue and white or red gym shoes.
