Police Warn Of Armed Robberies In Ashburn Neighborhood
CHICAGO (STMW) - Police are warning residents of the Southwest Side Ashburn area of an increase in robbery related incidents, with what is believed to be the same offender, in the month of May.
The robberies have occured in the 3100 block of West 80th Street on May 29 at approximately 5 p.m., and in the 7900 block of South Kedzie Avenue at approximately 10:30 p.m. on May 31, police said.
The victims have been approached by an offender who displays a handgun and demands property.
The offender was described as a black man, between 17 and 23 years old, 5-foot-9 to 6-foot-2, 150-160 pounds, with dreadlocks.
Police urge residents to always be aware of their surroundings, immediately report suspicious activity, and never to pursue a fleeing assailant but instead provide any information to police.
