Police Warn NW Side Businesses Of Recent Burglaries
CHICAGO (STMW) - Police are warning Northwest Side business owners of a string of burglaries.
Businesses in the Jefferson Park police district have had their entrance doors forced open and money taken from registers, file cabinets and lock boxes, according to a community alert from Grand Central Area detectives.
In most incidents, the power to the alarm and business is disabled and video surveillance equipment is also taken, the alert said.
Police advise businesses to keep the perimeter of their establishment well lit, and to completely secure the business when leaving. Police also advises owners to install, update and activate alarm and video surveillance systems, and immediately repair broken windows or doors.
Owners can also create the illusion that employees are present by using timers, the alert said.
Anyone with information should call Grand Central Area detectives at (312) 746-8282.
