Police: Vernon Hills Man Sent Lewd Photo To 12-Year-Old Girl
CHICAGO (STMW) -- A north suburban man was caught in a sting investigation after he sent a lewd photo to a 12-year-old girl in Missouri, police said.
John W. Schraffenberger, 24, is charged with sexual exploitation of a child, according to a statement from Vernon Hills police.
Police in Missouri notified Vernon Hills police in April that Schraffenberger had sent a lewd photo to a 12-year-old girl on her cell phone via the Kik messenger app, police said.
A Vernon Hills police investigator then posed as a 13-year-old girl and texted regularly with Schraffenberger, which led to his arrest on Oct. 16, police said.
Schraffenberger, of the 0-100 block of Echo Court in Vernon Hills, was released on bond and is next scheduled to appear in court Nov. 20.
