Police: Two Pedestrians Killed In Des Plaines Crashes
DES PLAINES, Ill. (STMW) - Two people were killed in separate crashes Tuesday in northwest suburban Des Plaines, police said.
The first incident happened at 5:30 a.m. when a vehicle struck a 46-year-old woman near Oakton Street and Fifth Avenue in Des Plaines, according to a release from the Des Plaines Police Department.
The Cook County Medical Examiner's office said the woman was pronounced dead at 6:14 a.m. at Advocate Lutheran General Hospital in Park Ridge. Her name was not being released pending family notification.
Police said a vehicle traveling west on Oakton Street struck the woman and no charges are pending against the driver at this time.
Police said there was a second fatal pedestrian accident in the northwest suburb, but could not immediately provide further details. The medical examiner's office could not immediately confirm the fatality.
