Police Seek Motorist Who Ran Over Girlfriend
CHICAGO (STMW) - A man allegedly used a minivan to run over his girlfriend, possibly breaking both of her legs Saturday morning in a Lawndale neighborhood hit-and-run.
The incident occurred at 6:35 a.m. in the 1300 block of South Lawndale Avenue.
The 22-year-old victim and her boyfriend were arguing when the man drove a green Plymouth minivan into her and ran her over, possibly breaking her legs before fleeing the scene, according to an Ogden District police lieutenant. The motorist did not try to help her.
She was taken to Mount Sinai Hospital in serious condition, according to Fire Media Affairs Chief Kevin MacGregor.
The call initially came out as a person shot because witnesses in the area heard the wheels of a vehicle screeching, saw her lying on the ground, and assumed a shooting had taken place, the lieutenant said
The incident is being investigated as an aggravated battery because the suspect allegedly used the vehicle as a weapon.
As of 11 a.m., the motorist was not under arrest but police know his identity are looking for him, according to the lieutenant .
Harrison Area detectives are investigating.
