Police search for robber who has targeted stores on Chicago's North Side

CHICAGO (CBS) -- Police on Thursday issued a community alert about a string of armed robberies inside small stores last month on the city's North Side.

In each incident, someone walked into a store, approached the victims, and demanded money. The robber appears to be holding a gun in his jacket, police said.

The robberies happened at the following times and locations:

  • 7:06 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 2, in the 1900 block of West Peterson Avenue, West Ridge.
  • 4:37 a.m. Tuesday, Oct. 8, in the 6300 block of North Clark Street, Rogers Park/Edgewater.
  • 11 p.m. Tuesday, Oct. 8, in the 4800 block of North Ashland Avenue, Winnemac/Ravenswood.
  • 9:12 p.m. Wednesday, Oct. 16, in the 1900 block of West Peterson Avenue again.
  • 7:27 p.m. Friday, Oct. 18, in the 2100 block of West Devon Avenue, West Ridge.

The robber was a man wearing black pants, a black coat, and on several occasions, a light blue knit cap.
