Police Search For Suspect In Hit-Run Accident On NW Side
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Police are searching for the driver in a hit-and-run accident that critically injured a 52-year-old man on the Northwest Side.
The man was riding his bicycle in the 4100 block of West School Street on Sept. 24 when a sports-utility vehicle hit him about 3:50 p.m., according to Chicago police.
The man was thrown from his bicycle and onto the front windshield of the SUV before he landed in the street, police said.
The driver of the SUV got out of the vehicle, crouched over the man and asked him, "Are you OK?" and then returned to his vehicle and drove northbound.
Police described the driver as a Hispanic man between the ages of 29 and 30. He is 5-foot-9 to 5-foot-10, weighs 180 pounds and has a medium to dark complexion, police said. He wore a black or gray graphic T-shirt and had a tattoo on his forearm.
Police said they believe he drove a 1998 to 2000 silver Toyota RAV4.
