Police Release Surveillance Video Of Mount Prospect Burglars
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Police in northwest suburban Mount Prospect have released surveillance video of burglars who broke into two homes as the families were asleep.
Both burglaries were reported Tuesday morning.
One of the burglaries happened in the 800 block of Heritage Drive. Someone got in through an unlocked first floor window, and stole purses containing cash and credit cards.
The other burglary happened in the 1700 block of Regency Court. Burglars stole power tools from a vehicle parked in the driveway, and entered the home through an unlocked side door, stealing a purse containing cash and credit cards.
Surveillance video from the victims' neighbors shows the suspects unsuccessfully trying to get into other homes. One suspect was wearing a knit cap, light-colored jacket, and dark-colored pants. The other was wearing a light-colored hoodie and light-colored pants.
Mount Prospect Police asked anyone with information on the burglaries to call detectives at 847-870-5654. Anonymous tips also can be submitted by calling Crime Stoppers of Mount Prospect by calling 847-590-7867 or texting MPPD and your tip to 274637. Tips leading to an arrest might be eligible to a cash reward of up to $1,000.
Police also reminded homeowners to keep their doors, windows, and vehicles locked.
