Police Probe Break-In At East Garfield Park School
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Police are investigating after a break-in at a public elementary school in the East Garfield Park neighborhood.
A maintenance worker at Leif Ericson Elementary Scholastic Academy, at 3600 W. Fifth Ave. on the eastern edge of the park of Garfield Park, noticed broken windows in the magnet school's main office and principal's office around 6:15 a.m., police said.
Police News Affairs Officer John Mirabelli said file cabinets and drawers were opened and turned over in the two offices.
Mirabelli said it is not clear if the school was broken into on Monday or during the weekend.
The Chicago Public Schools tells CBS 2 an investigation is underway. It is not clear if anything was taken from the school.
