Police Officers Shoot Man In Riverdale
RIVERDALE, Ill. (CBS) -- Police officers in south suburban Riverdale Wednesday wounded a man who allegedly pointed a gun at them.
Police said officers were watching a large group of people at about 3 p.m. Wednesday on the corner of 142nd and School Streets. Officers then spotted several people running from the area, including one with a gun in hand.
The man with the gun allegedly turned his weapon toward officers, who, fearing for their life, opened fire and wounded him.
Riverdale Fire Department paramedics transported the man to Christ Hospital, in Oak Lawn. No condition report was immediately available.
The Cook County State's Attorney's office and Illinois State Police Public Integrity Task Force investigators were investigating the shooting.
