Police Officer Hurt, Teen Dead In Evergreen Park Crash
EVERGREEN PARK, Ill. (CBS) - A West Side teenager was killed, and an Evergreen Park police officer and another person were hospitalized Wednesday morning, after a squad car hit another car and left an accident scene that resembled a Hollywood set.
The crash happened about 9:41 p.m. at the intersection of 95th Street and Central Park Avenue in Evergreen Park, police said.
The civilian car was demolished, and was left partway up on the sidewalk in a pile of broken glass. The unmarked police vehicle sat with its lights flashing next to the civilian car.
The driver of the civilian car was identified as Brian Dewitt, 18, of the 100 block of South Washtenaw Avenue. He was pronounced dead at 11:50 p.m. at Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, according to a spokesman for the Cook County Medical Examiner's office.
The police officer was taken to Little Company of Mary Hospital and Health Care Centers in an unidentified condition, officials said.
The passenger in the civilian vehicle was taken to Advocate Christ Medical Center in Oak Lawn, also in an unidentified condition, officials said.
