Police Nab Two After Oak Lawn Armed Robbery, Chase
OAK LAWN, Ill. (STMW) -- Two Chicago men were arrested Monday after they allegedly robbed an Oak Lawn convenience store and led police through two southwestern suburbs before crashing in Chicago.
Clifton Hall Jr., 40, of the 6600 block of South Damen Avenue in Chicago, and Clifton R. Moore, 39, of the 7400 block of South Maryland Avenue in Chicago, were each charged with one count of armed robbery with a firearm, according to an Oak Lawn police release.
Hall entered a convenience store in the 10400 block of South Cicero Avenue in Oak Lawn with a handgun about 2:30 p.m. Dec. 23 and pointed the weapon at the cashier and stole money and packs of cigarettes, police said.
He fled the store into a waiting light blue Cadillac driven by Moore, and a civilian gave a description of the car to responding officers, police said.
An Evergreen Park police officer saw the vehicle traveling east on West 103rd Street near South Kedzie Avenue in the southwestern suburb and additional police units attempted to stop the car, police said.
The Cadillac eventually crashed into a tree near West 103rd Street and South Longwood Drive in Chicago, and officers from the two suburban police departments captured the men as they tried to run away, police said.
Officers recovered a handgun and the victim identified Hall as the robber, police said.
