Police: Motorist Dead After Northwest Side Crash
CHICAGO (STMW) -- A man is dead after a driver attempting to pass a vehicle crossed into oncoming traffic early Sunday, causing a head-on collision with another vehicle in the Northwest Side Kilbourn Park neighborhood, police said.
A Toyota was heading west in the 4700 block of West Belmont Avenue at 3:45 a.m. when it attempted to pass another vehicle and crossed the centerline into oncoming eastbound traffic, where it struck a 1988 Honda head-on, police News Affairs Officer Darryl Baety said.
The driver of the Honda was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center where he died, Baety said.
The driver of the Toyota was taken in "stable" condition to Our Lady of the Resurrection Medical Center.
Three other vehicles were also struck during the accident, Baety said.
There were no other injuries.
No charges have been filed Sunday afternoon.
The police Major Accident Investigation Unit is investigating.
