Police: Michigan Man Killed In Aurora Hit-And-Run
AURORA, Ill. (STMW) - A Michigan man was killed in an early Saturday hit-and-run crash in west suburban Aurora, police said.
Police responded about 4:30 a.m. to Butterfield Road just west of North Eola Road after receiving a 911 call reporting a vehicle struck a pedestrian and fled, according to a statement from Aurora police.
Robert Vincz, 30, of Michigan, was taken to Provena Mercy Medical Center in Aurora, where he was pronounced dead at 5:13 a.m., police said.
Police learned Vincz and another man were walking east on the south side of Butterfield Road when an eastbound vehicle struck Vincz from behind, the statement said. The men were walking back to their car, which had run out of gas.
The driver stopped for a short time, then fled prior to the arrival of the police and fire departments, police said.
The vehicle is described as a dark-colored sedan last seen eastbound on Butterfield Road, the statement said. The driver is described as a 5-feet-9, 165-pound white man in his early- to mid-20s with dark hair. He has multiple tattoos, possibly on both arms and his neck. He also had a pierced right ear.
