Police: Man Who Sexually Assaulted Teen May Have More Victims
ROLLING MEADOWS, Ill. (STMW) - A northwest suburban man who allegedly gave drugs and alcohol to an underage girl, then sexually assaulted her repeatedly, has been ordered held on $200,000 bond, and police fear he may have other young victims.
Carl Salters, 44, of the 0–100 block of 7th Avenue in Arlington Heights, is charged with three counts of aggravated criminal sexual abuse and one count of criminal sexual assault, according to a release from the Cook County Sheriff's office.
The arrest also constituted a probation violation, making Salters ineligible to bound out, the release said. He was previously convicted of assault and drug possession.
On Sunday, sheriff's officers responded to a battery call on 7th Avenue, where the teenage victim said he had choked her to prevent her from leaving a friend's house. As officers attempted to take Salters into custody, he became combative, the release said.
During the course of the arrest, the victim claimed Salters had sexually assaulted her on four occasions in July, according to police. In a later interview, she said Salters had provided her with drugs and alcohol prior to the assaults.
Salters and the victim lived in the same neighborhood, and were acquaintances, the girl told police. Based on her description of Salters' predatory methods, police believe he may have other victims. The sheriff's office is asking anyone with information about his involvement with children to call (708) 865-4896.
Salters' next court date is Dec. 30 in Rolling Meadows.
