Police: Man Tried To Lure Teen With Ice Cream In Niles
NILES, Ill. (CBS) -- Niles police are looking for a man who tried to entice a teenage girl to go with him Wednesday evening.
WBBM Newsradio's Bernie Tafoya reports a 14-year-old girl was standing outside a store at the Golf Mill Shopping Center around 5 p.m. Wednesday, when a man between 30 and 40 years old approached her, and started asking her questions, like her name, the time, and whether she'd go with him to buy ice cream.
He promised to have her back at the mall in a couple hours, police said.
The girl was on her cell phone at the time, and refused to give her name. The friend she was talking to quickly joined her friend at the mall to help her.
Police said that friend told the man they'd call police, and he ran away through the mall.
Police had only a vague description of the suspect.
