Police: Man Threatened 'Columbine' Style Shooting At Courthouse
WHEATON, Ill. (CBS) -- A man is accused of threatening a "Columbine type" shooting at the DuPage County Courthouse, reports WBBM's Terry Keshner.
The DuPage County Sheriff's Office says Daniel McDade of Lombard was notified to appear at the DuPage County Courthouse last week for a drug test as part of the conditions of his bail for a DUI arrest.
Shortly after receiving this notice, investigators say McDade started posting threatening messages on Facebook, including saying he would shoot several people, including kids in a "Columbine" type shooting at the courthouse.
McDade was found living in Denver, Colorado. He was arrested and is being held in Denver awaiting extradition back to DuPage County.
"All threats no matter how extreme or seemingly insignificant need to be taken seriously," said DuPage CountySheriff Zaruba in a press release. "It is my responsibility to maintain a safe and secure environment for those who either attend or work in our Courthouse. I would like to thank the Denver Police Department for their assistance in locating and detaining the suspect."
