Police: Man Sent Explicit Texts, Facebook Messages To Underage Girls
CRYSTAL LAKE, Ill. (CBS) -- A 19-year-old Woodstock man is charged with sending sexually explicit texts and Facebook message to girls as young as 13, and trying to arrange to meet them.
On Nov. 27, a Crystal Lake man complained that an older teenage boy had been harassing his 13-year-old daughter via her cell phone and a Facebook account, Crystal Lake police said. The messages were sexually explicit and the man was trying to arrange to meet with the girl.
An investigation found that Denzel Hayes, then 18, had sent sexually explicit messages not only to the reported victim, but to two other underage girls in Crystal Lake, a release from police said.
Just before 1 p.m. on Dec. 27, Hayes, of the 500 block of Leah Lane in Woodstock, was found at the Woodstock Library, where he was arrested, the release said.
He was charged with two felony counts of indecent solicitation of a child, and one misdemeanor count of solicitation to meet with a child, the release said.
Bond was set at $40,000 on the felonies and $3,500 on the misdemeanor, the release said. Hayes remained in custody at the McHenry County Jail as of Wednesday morning.
Upon investigating further, police found out that Hayes had sexually explicit photos of a girl under 13, the release said. After detectives made that discovery, Hayes was charged Tuesday with six Class X felony counts of aggravated child pornography.
An additional bond was set at $100,000 for a total of $143,500, according to Crystal Lake police. Hayes's next court date is on Friday in Woodstock.
