Police: Man Assaulted Woman At Edgebrook Motel
CHICAGO (STMW) -- A man has been charged assaulting a woman at a Far Northwest Side motel earlier this week, where police say he was holding her against her will.
Anthony Wayne Gibson, 49, of the 6300 block of West Touhy Avenue -- which is split between Chicago and Niles -- was charged with two counts of aggravated criminal sexual assault, aggravated kidnapping, five counts of violating an order of protection and domestic battery, all of which are felonies, police said. He also was wanted on two warrants.
About 7:30 a.m. Monday, Gibson allegedly grabbed a 44-year-old woman by the hair and back of the neck while she was outside her home, held a knife to her throat and forced her come with him to Edgebrook Motel, 6401 W. Touhy Ave., according to a police report.
The report said while at the motel, he allegedly threatened to kill her several times, punched her in the face and body and assaulted her.
Gibson allegedly said he was going to "carve her up,'' but she was able to contact a family member who called police and officers heard her screaming when they got to the room, the report said.
Inside, the woman was found on the floor and Gibson was found on a bed, holding a bloody knife, according to the report. Another larger knife was lying on the floor next to the bed. Police found he had three knives.
Officers said he had stabbed himself in the chest and he was transported to Resurrection Medical Center in an unidentified condition. The victim was taken to another area hospital for treatment. There was no indication that she was stabbed.
Gibson was arrested Monday about 10:15 a.m. at the motel.
The victim had an active order of protection against him, preventing him from contacting her by any means, according to the report.
