Police: Los Angeles Woman Visiting Friend In Logan Square Missing
CHICAGO (STMW) -- Chicago police are searching for a Los Angeles woman who disappeared Saturday while staying with a friend in the Northwest Side Logan Square neighborhood.
Carmen "Chela" Garza, who suffers from Alzheimer's disease, disappeared from the home near Armitage Avenue and Rockwell Street about 5 p.m., Area North detectives said in an alert.
Garza, 74, also has high blood pressure and walks with a limp because of a knee replacement, the alert said. She did not take her evening medicines before going missing.
She is described as a 5-foot-2, 160-pound Hispanic woman, with brown eyes and a light complexion, the alert said. She is about 10 years older than she appears in a picture released by police, and now has with yellowish white and gray hair.
She was last seen wearing a brown T-shirt, light green blouse, pink sweater, pink sweat pants and striped green and white tennis shoes, the alert said.
Garza lives in Los Angeles, Calif., but lived on Chicago's North Side several years ago, the alert said.
