Family: Missing U of C Student Disappeared After Taking Finals
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Police have issued an alert for a missing 20-year-old University of Chicago student, last seen near the school's Hyde Park campus on Wednesday afternoon.
Austin Hudson-Lapore is a 5-foot-7, 110-pound white male, with blue eyes and blonde hair. The third-year student attends the University of Chicago and was last seen around the 5300 block of South Kimbark about 12:30 p.m. on Wednesday.
Hudson-Lapore is from Albuquerque, N.M., and studies biological chemistry.
Hudson-Lapore's family met with the media Friday to ask for the public's help. His father, Gregg Lapore said his son did not seem troubled in recent days and in fact spent hours laughing with his parents via Skype on the Internet.
"He's a very upbeat guy," he said.
Hudson-Lapore disappeared Wednesday after taking his finals. His family speculates he may have ventured to the lakefront to watch the storms that converged on Chicago. His cell phone was left at his apartment.
When last seen the missing student was wearing black gym shoes and blue jeans.
Anyone who may have seen him is asked to contact Area Central detectives, at (312) 747-8380.
