Police Investigate Two Home Invasions On Northwest Side
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Police are investigating two recent home invasions on the city's Northwest Side.
Late Friday night, a woman says two or three men entered her home near Mobile and Foster, tied her up and took several items.
Then Monday night, two men broke into a home near Oconto and Waveland, hit a woman in the face and took jewelry and other items.
NW Side Home Invasions
In the first incident in the 5200 block of North Mobile Avenue in Jefferson Park, a woman heard a knock at her door at around 11:30 p.m.
She assumed it was her husband and opened the door only to be bowled over by two men, CBS 2's Mike Puccinelli reports.
They then tied her up and put her in the back of the home while they ransacked the house looking for valuables.
The second incident happened on Monday around 7:30 p.m. in the 3700 block of North Oconto.
A 67-year-old woman was struck in the face by two men who broke into her home.
She was also tied up by her assailants.
Her face was bruised in the attack, but police say she insisted on having family members take her to the hospital.
Ed Stare says his neighbor came to his Belmont Heights home for help, right after she was robbed of cash and jewelry last night.
"She was very frantic, just very upset, crying, obviously, visibly shaken," said Stare.
Stare says he called 9-1-1 because the men who robbed his neighbor, had broken her phone.
"She had a bloody nose. I guess they hit her with the gun, 'cause she tried to get away. They had her tied up with the phone cord. She tried to make a break for the door, but they caught her and hit her on the bridge of the nose the gun I guess. Black eyes and a cut on the bridge of her nose."
"There were two men, but I guess about a half an hour before they came, two girls rang her door bell and she opened the door for them and they asked if someone named Anna lived there. She said, 'No, no. There's nobody here by that name.' They left, walked north down the street and then a half an hour later, these guys showed up."
So far no one has been arrested in either case.
