19-year-old woman arrested in beating that killed aunt in Chicago's south suburbs
HARVEY, Ill. (CBS) -- A 19-year-old woman is in custody after she allegedly beat her aunt to death during a quarrel in Harvey late Friday.
The incident happened at 147th Street and Union Avenue.
A source said the young woman got into a quarrel with the victim, who grabbed a knife.
The 19-year-old then took a hammer and bludgeoned the victim to death — fracturing her skull, the source said.
A spokesperson for the City of Harvey confirmed that the offender was the victim's niece.
This was the first homicide in Harvey in 2024.
