Woman Found Stabbed To Death; Search For Her Boyfriend Ends With His Death

MERRILLVILLE, Ind. (CBS) -A Merrillville, Ind. military veteran was discovered stabbed to death in her home after police did a welfare check Friday.
The woman's boyfriend was found dead at a Cook County hotel.
The victim, 40-year-old Kimberly Danielewicz, was Desert Storm veteran. When she returned home, she also worked a U.S. postal worker.
Merrillville police performed a welfare check at her home in the 1400 block of West 86th Avenue when they found her body.
The Lake County Coroner's office said she had been stabbed multiple times in the neck and back.
Saturday, her home was wrapped in crime tape.
"I couldn't believe it, so I said I'm going to drive by and see," said Alice Nichols, a former neighbor and friend of Danielewicz's for the past 12 years. The two still kept in touch, even after Nichols moved away.
"I was thinking about her the other day. We were supposed to have tea together," Nichols said.
Investigators were also looking for Danielewicz's boyfriend, 42-year-old James Bailey.
Cook County Sheriff's investigators confirm Bailey's body was found inside a Franklin Park motel on Mannheim Road on Thursday. He was surrounded by a number of prescription bottles.
Family members say Danielewicz and Bailey had only been dating for a few months and met online.
A relative tells CBS 2 the two had had a history of abuse.
"She was kind of fearful about some things, but she would never go into details with me," Nichols, the former neighbor, said.
