Police Investigate After Crude Bombs Found At Palatine Condo Complex
PALATINE, Ill. (CBS) -- Police are trying to determine who planted eight crude chemical bombs in the courtyard of a condominium complex in northwest suburban Palatine -- and why.
On Sunday, a resident of the Randville Condominiums, at 1160 E. Randville Dr., spotted the containers full of chemicals, ranging in size from 16 ounces to a gallon, and summoned police and fire units. Bomb Squad technicians were able to neutralize the bombs in a little more than an hour.
No one was hurt.
Although the complex is only about 300 yards from Palatine High School, District 211 School Board President Robert LeFevre told WBBM Newsradio that police had not asked the school to take any special precautions.
