Police: Injuries Suffered After Car Hits Pole In Austin
CHICAGO (STMW) -- Several people were injured during a crash in the West Side Austin neighborhood where a car hit a pole early Saturday.
The crash happened about 1:30 a.m. in the 400 block of North Central Avenue, police News Affairs Officer Amina Greer said.
A red four-door Buick was traveling south on Central Avenue when the driver lost control, Greer said.
The car was split in half due to the one-vehicle crash, police said.
Five people were inside the vehicle, Greer said. The victims were taken to Mount Sinai Hospital, John H. Stroger, Jr. Hospital of Cook County, West Suburban Medical Center in Oak Park and Loretto Hospital. Condition, ages, and the exact number of injured victims was not available.
An EMS Plan 1 was called for crash, which summons five ambulances to respond to the collision.
