When police caught up with the man in the 1000 block of North Illinois Route 83, he pointed a handgun at one of the officers and misfired, the release said. The man fled again before an officer caught up and exchanged gunfire with him, striking the man multiple times.
The 24-year-old was taken to Alexian Brothers Medical Center in Elk Grove Village, where his condition was not known Saturday morning. Neither police officer was injured, the release said.
