Police Hunt Woman's Attacker In Logan Square
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Police are searching for a man who attacked a woman, as she parked her minivan in her garage this week in the Logan Square neighborhood.
Around 8:22 p.m. Monday, the 34-year-old woman returned home and pulled her 1994 green Mercury minivan into the garage in the 2500 block of North Avers Avenue. The man had been waiting in the garage, and forced his way into the van at knifepoint, police said.
When the man got inside the van, he demanded money and other personal items from the woman. Then he locked the van's doors and drove the woman's van away as he held her captive in the passenger seat, police said.
He drove a couple of miles east to the 2200 block of West Medill Avenue, where he beat the woman and attempted to sexually assault her, police said.
The woman escaped, and let the man have her van.
The man was described as a black Hispanic, standing 5 feet 8 inches tall and weighing 230 pounds, with a muscular build, short black hair and a dark complexion, and speaking with a Spanish accent, police said.
Anyone with information is asked to call Grand Central Area police detectives, at (312) 746-8282.
