Woman Kidnapped, Held Captive For 3 Days In Abandoned Building
CHICAGO (CBS) -- Police were warning residents in the North Lawndale neighborhood, after a woman was kidnapped near a CTA station in broad daylight, and held captive for three days.
The 39-year-old woman exited a Pink Line train station at 21st Street and Pulaski Road at 8:45 a.m. on Saturday, and was approached by a man who hit her in the back of the head, and dragged her into a nearby abandoned building.
Police said a preliminary report indicates four men held the woman captive for three days.
She suffered multiple injuries during her ordeal.
The Chicago Tribune reported the woman realized her captors had left her alone Tuesday evening, after earlier hearing them argue over who would stay and watch her. She fled the building, got on a CTA bus, and went to Mount Sinai Hospital.
During the three days she was held captive, she reportedly was forced to drink an unknown liquid from a glass vodka bottle.
No one was in custody Thursday morning.
The suspect who struck the victim after she exited the Pink Line station was described as a black male, between the ages of 20 and 25. He is approximately 5'9" to 5'11", weighs 140 to 150 pounds, has long dreadlocks, and was wearing a grey sweatshirt, blue jeans, and black gym shoes.
Police said residents should be aware of their surroundings, alert neighbors, and call 911 to report suspicious activity in their neighborhood.
