Police: Drunk Mom Ran Over Daughter In Driveway
CHICAGO (CBS) -- A mother who admitted consuming "several alcoholic beverages" struck and killed her baby daughter as she was backing her car out of a driveway, police said.
Yvette Y. Guerrero-Silva, 40, of Steger, got into the car while her 18-month-old daughter was playing nearby. As she began to back the car down the driveway, she ran over the girl.
Holly Silva died of massive head injuries at St. James Hospital in Chicago Heights. The accident happened around 7 p.m. on Wednesday in the 1100 block of Main Street in Crete.
Guerrero-Silva has been charged with two counts of aggravated DUI, police said. She told police that she had consumed "several" alcoholic beverages, and blood tests indicated she was above the legal blood alcohol limit. Her BAC was not released by police.
Bond for Guerreo-Silva, whose driving privileges had already been suspended, was set at $1 million.
