Police Detain Suspected Drunken Driver After Uptown Hit-And-Run
CHICAGO (STMW) -- A suspected drunk driver is in custody and an 87-year-old man is in critical condition after the man was struck in the Uptown neighborhood Friday morning, according to police.
The accident happened about 7 a.m. at Broadway and Lawrence, and the driver left the scene, but was soon apprehended by police.
The elderly pedestrian was taken to Advocate Illinois Masonic Medical Center, where he was listed in serious to critical condition, according to Fire Media Affairs.
The driver was in custody Friday afternoon, and police said the accident was alcohol-related. No charges had been field and no additional details were available as of about 2 p.m.
