Police Detain 3 Men In Harvey Killings

HARVEY (CBS) - Three men are in police custody in connection with the murders of a Harvey mom, her daughter and her boyfriend's son late Sunday.

The men have not been charged yet. But police say they were all arrested at the same location, and one was on parole for another crime.

"I'm extremely proud of the Harvey Police Department. I'm equally proud of the citizens," Mayor Eric J. Kellogg told CBS 2.

The shooting happened at around 10 p.m. Sunday in the 300 block of West 151st   Street. Tips began flowing in to the police department, the mayor said.

Responding officers found a 28-year-old woman, her 9-year-old daughter and 4-year-old son, and a 16-year-old boy, all lying wounded from gunshots.

The woman was identified as Donysha Stovall, and her daughter as Clarisma Torrey, according to the Cook County Medical Examiner's office. They were both taken to Ingalls Memorial Hospital in Harvey, where they were pronounced dead.

The teenage boy was identified as Shaquille Davis, according to the medical examiner's office. He was pronounced dead on the scene.

The fourth victim, Stovall's 4-year-old son, Nate Davis, was hospitalized with multiple gunshot wounds.

Stovall's father, Dyland Weather, stood near the scene in tears as he looked over a disturbing hospital photo of his grandson. He says Nate was hit in the chest, leg, back and hand and was in stable condition.

"It's hard to believe that this is happening," he said.

Weather watched as police officers combed the scene, even using an aerial fire truck to examine the roof of the apartment building.

Now police are looking into whether the case has any link to another murder just a couple of buildings  down the street back in June. Felicia Sandiford, a 34-year-old mother of 10, was found burned inside an apartment.

The three men taken into custody Monday had little to say as officers walked them into the Harvey Police Department around 6:15 p.m.

Police say they'll be able to give more details of the arrests Tuesday. That's when they expect to file formal charges.
