Police Critics Stage 'Die-In' Near President Obama's Chicago Home
(CBS) -- The police-involved shootings here and elsewhere were the subject of a protest across the street from President Obama's Kenwood home.
WBBM's Bob Roberts was there.
It was called a "die-in," and for about five minutes 40 of the protesters blocked the intersection outside of Mr. Obama's home.
They said Minneapolis, Baton Rouge and Dallas are suffering, but so is Chicago.
Eric Russell said he's disappointed in the nation's first African-American president.
"He looked us in the eye and said, 'I'm a brother like you. I love my people. I got you.' Well, the president did not fulfill his promise to his community," Russell said.
The most heartfelt moment of a sometimes fractious protest was when a five-year-old grabbed the megaphone and said: "I'm young. I'm smart. And all I want to do is live."
